Social Work Assistant Role

Hatched Recruitment Group is working closely with local authorities to fill a Social Work Assistant position in the Birmingham area. This contract role is expected to last 3-6 months.

This role is part of the Kinship Assessment Team, responsible for assessing relatives or friends to care for children and young people when their own parents are unable to. As a Social Work Assistant, you will support the work completed within your social work team, including:

  • Contacting potential Connected Persons Foster Carers/Special Guardians to introduce yourself and the service, discussing the assessment process and required documentation.
  • Using electronic systems to keep records up-to-date and communicate with various stakeholders.
  • Working effectively with Social Workers and other professionals across the Trust, including child care social workers, legal representatives, GPs, and medical advisors.
  • Meeting with potential applicants, assisting with paperwork, and ensuring they have the necessary documentation for DBS checks.
  • Supporting Social Workers in completing the full Form C (Coram BAAF) assessment, including one-to-one sessions with applicants and documentation support.

You will require strong administration and IT skills, as well as effective communication and positive relationship skills. Clear, concise record-keeping and time management skills are essential, as well as the ability to work effectively with colleagues and other agencies, solve problems, negotiate, and make decisions.
