Key ResponsibilitiesAdministrative Support
  • Develop a thorough knowledge of all practice procedures and work in accordance with written protocols.
  • Pull and file notes for surgeries and update as necessary.
  • Fax and photocopy as requested.
Reception Services
  • Receive patients and consult with members of the practice team.
  • Hand completed repeat prescriptions to patients and check names and addresses.
  • Cover all reception positions as necessary.
Appointment Management
  • Process appointment requests for today and future appointments from patients by telephone and in person.
  • Deal with visits and requests.
Computer Operations
  • Register new patients and enter computer data and medical records.
  • Process patient changes of address and update computer data and medical records.
  • Summarize patient records and scan documents.
Telephone and Communication
  • Have a working knowledge of the telephone and bleep system during and after hours.
  • Cover for the telephonist when necessary.
Additional Tasks
  • Clear rooms after surgeries.
  • Ensure building security and have a thorough knowledge of doors, windows, and alarms.
  • Perform other tasks allocated by managers.
