About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled Senior Supportability Engineer to join our team at Babcock International Group. As a Senior Supportability Engineer, you will play a critical role in ensuring the delivery of high-quality support solutions to our customers.

Key Responsibilities

  • Manage engineering aspects of support solutions for equipment and systems contracted to Marine systems in the Support Value Stream.
  • Investigate and resolve technical queries from various sources, and raise and answer S forms through the Maritime Collaborative Working Environment.
  • Develop and implement design and supporting improvements to identify cost, lead-time, and availability improvements for Marine Systems contracts.
  • Resolve obsolescence issues identified by the Obsolescence Manager, applying the most appropriate resolution to gain maximum benefit to the project.
  • Perform Unit Maintenance Management System (UMMS) Monitoring and suggest changes to improve the reliability of assets.
  • Assist in maintaining a technical document library, including reviewing and updating Books of Reference (BRs) and Illustrated Parts Catalogues (IPCs).
  • Codify non-patternised items to allow their supply to the Royal Navy.
  • Conduct visits to OEMs and liaise with ships' staff as required to maintain currency of issues.
  • Define and update repair/new-buy Statement of Requirements (SoRs).
  • Provide Task Approval Form (TAF) support to Project Managers as necessary.

Requirements

  • Ability to read and understand engineering drawings.
  • Well-versed with design techniques.
  • Understanding of contract delivery.
  • Understanding of Procurement processes.
  • Good understanding of asset management.
  • Ability to produce concise reports and business cases.
  • Good understanding of configuration management.

Qualifications

The candidate will have a relevant engineering qualification, such as a degree or equivalent, or equivalent experience will be considered and advantageous. The candidate will ideally have IEng status or working towards professional registration.

Security Clearance

The successful candidate must be able to achieve and maintain Standard (BPSS) / Security Check (SC) security clearance for this role.
