Inmate Support Counselor

Job Responsibilities
Delivers extensive case management services by ensuring that all pertinent classification documentation is submitted promptly, accurately, and completely. Guarantees that inmates are suitably engaged in employment throughout their incarceration. This role emphasizes adult inmate release preparation and executing case management/counseling, which encompasses classification processes. Encourages the growth of both self and colleagues through training initiatives. Serves as a role model by offering guidance and direction to inmates within a correctional environment, thereby enhancing facility security and fostering long-term pro-social behaviors.
Essential Qualifications
High school diploma or equivalent required. Experience in counseling, rehabilitation, or case management is essential. Proven experience in facilitating rehabilitative programs and preparing reports is necessary. A solid understanding of counseling principles, casework methodologies, behavior modification techniques, and various intervention strategies is required. Demonstrated capability to counsel and engage with inmates to create, implement, and monitor treatment plans, along with effective verbal and written communication skills.
Additional Qualifications
Advanced knowledge in Social Services, Counseling, Criminal Justice, or related fields, or an equivalent combination of training and experience is preferred. Prior experience in adult counseling or correctional settings is advantageous. Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Outlook, Word, and Excel) is expected. Certification in specialized areas, such as Certified Substance Abuse Counselor (CSAC) or Certified Sex Offender Treatment Provider (CSOTP), is a plus. Bilingual candidates are encouraged to apply. Familiarity with evidence-based practices and experience in facilitating programs for both staff and inmates is beneficial.
