The Cyber Security Assurance Testing Specialist will report to the Cyber Security Testing Manager and will be part of the Information Systems directorate. This position is a permanent role.

Attractive remuneration of £49,600.00 with a bonus of 7.5% is offered. The role supports flexible working arrangements after the initial probationary period.

ROLE OBJECTIVE:

The Testing Assurance Specialist will assist the Cyber Security Testing Manager in upholding a robust cyber security framework across the UK Power Networks IT infrastructure. This involves identifying vulnerabilities and weaknesses while guiding the necessary actions to mitigate risks and maintain the integrity and availability of essential IT services.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Compliance: Collaborate with service owners and the Technology team to ensure adherence to UKPN technical standards, tracking and driving remediation actions for identified vulnerabilities.
  • Penetration Testing: Contribute to the development of red and purple team penetration testing exercises, aligned with current industry cyber security threat intelligence.
  • Vulnerability Management: Assist in the establishment of a vulnerability management process to identify, assess, prioritize, and track known security vulnerabilities.
  • Identity and Access Management: Support the development of identity and access management strategies across UKPN.
  • Business Forensics: Collaborate with HR and the Data Privacy Officer to manage approved information requests, ensuring compliance with data handling policies.
  • Risk Analysis: Analyze risks associated with vulnerabilities, propose remediation steps, and monitor progress to ensure timely completion.
  • Reporting: Generate reports on remediation activities and their status, ensuring thorough tracking to completion.
  • Continuous Improvement: Recommend enhancements to testing procedures based on ongoing evaluations.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Experience in cyber security within enterprise environments, including familiarity with Azure Cloud and Office 365.
  • Bachelor's Degree in Cybersecurity, Computer Science, Information Systems, or a related field.
  • Strong understanding of Identity and Access Management in enterprise settings.
  • Basic knowledge of compliance regulations such as Cyber Essentials, PCI DSS, and GDPR.
  • Experience with network security principles and tools.
  • Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment.
  • Strong time management and prioritization skills.
  • Demonstrated self-motivation and a commitment to continuous learning.
  • Professional integrity and discretion in handling sensitive information.
