Latcom is seeking a dedicated and experienced Senior Ecological Consultant to join our dynamic consultancy team. We are looking for an individual who is passionate about ecology and the environment, and who is eager to lead and develop a talented team across various regions.
The ideal candidate will possess a strong background in ecology, with a focus on overseeing projects while maintaining our high standards of performance, culture, and quality. As our work is project-driven, candidates should be prepared for travel and occasional overnight stays, with a commitment to ensuring a balanced work-life dynamic.
Key ResponsibilitiesThe successful candidate will be responsible for:
- Providing guidance and mentorship to junior team members within the ecology department;
- Conducting and overseeing surveys for protected species and habitats;
- Implementing effective mitigation strategies and ensuring compliance with environmental regulations;
- Engaging with clients and stakeholders to deliver professional assessments of environmental studies;
- Collaborating with team members to achieve project goals while fostering a positive work environment.
To be considered for this role, candidates must have:
- A genuine passion for ecology and environmental conservation;
- Experience in managing or mentoring junior staff within an ecological context;
- A survey license for protected species or relevant certifications in ecological fields;
- Knowledge of habitat surveys and mitigation practices;
- Strong communication skills to interact effectively with clients and colleagues;
- A valid driver's license and access to a vehicle.
Additional qualifications that would be advantageous include:
- Experience in business development or a willingness to learn;
- Familiarity with Ecological Impact Assessments (EcIA) and biodiversity net gain;
- Advanced knowledge in specialized ecological areas, such as botany or bat ecology;
- A degree in a relevant field of study related to ecology;
- Proficiency in GIS software (QGIS or ArcGIS) and relevant ecological permits.
