Job Description

We are seeking a highly skilled Lead Cost Controller to join our Infrastructure-Transport & Utilities team in Bristol and the South West. As a key member of our team, you will be responsible for leading cost control activities on complex projects and programmes.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead teams of cost control professionals on complex projects or programmes.
  • Drive continuous improvement in cost control processes to create efficiency and increase benefits to our clients.
  • Implement, embed, and roll-out changes to cost control processes.
  • Select, implement, administer, and maintain cost control systems and procedures.
  • Develop project Cost Breakdown Structures (CBS) and align time phasing of budgets against the Work Breakdown Structures (WBS).
  • Integrate cost estimates to the Work Breakdown Structure and set project budgets against the correct Work Packages, Planning Packages, and Control Accounts.
  • Provide subject matter advice and manage the development of reporting tracking tools.
  • Generate Cost reports on a regular basis, including evaluation of earned value.
  • Define how to build and assure project forecast to account for all residual works in the Estimate To Complete (ETC) and the development of the Estimate at Completion (EAC).
  • Present performance recovery recommendations to relevant stakeholders and senior management.
  • Lead cost control activities to actively identify variance to the baseline and seek efficiencies across client programmes.
  • Undertake line management activities, including career development and performance management.

Requirements

  • Experience in cost control on complex projects/programmes.
  • Practical experience of different cost performance reporting and cost forecasting techniques.
  • Practical experience of Earned Value Management (EVM), progress reporting, forecasting, and performance reporting and analysis.
  • Practical experience of using MS Excel and other MS applications.
  • Experience of interfacing risk with other Project Controls disciplines.
  • Experience in leading small teams.
  • An understanding of how other aspects of Project Controls interact with Cost Engineering.
