About the Role

We are seeking a highly motivated and conscientious individual to join our Estates & Facilities Division as a Senior Estates Design Officer (Building). This exciting opportunity will involve developing, designing, and managing schemes from inception to post-project evaluation.

Key Responsibilities
  • Develop, plan, and manage Health Board Capital projects, liaising with contractors, stakeholders, and suppliers to meet project requirements, budget limits, and time frame deadlines.
  • Produce technical drawings using CAD/BIM and other packages.
  • Ensure compliance with current Construction Design and Management Regulations (CDM), building and planning regulations, and other statutory framework regulations.
  • Manage and ensure clear communication, discussions, and workshops relating to schemes with department managers and user groups.
  • Manage the procurement and construction of delegated capital schemes throughout the Health Board.

Person Specification

We are looking for a candidate with:

  • A degree in a Building discipline with significant post-qualification experience
  • Professional knowledge equivalent to degree level gained in a Building discipline or a demonstrable record of work experience and achievement gained within the Construction Industry
  • A recognised management/supervisory qualification or a proven record of equivalent experience and knowledge
  • Evidence of continuing professional development

Desirable qualifications and experience include:

  • Specialist knowledge acquired through courses and/or experience
  • Working towards Chartered status
  • Proficient in the use of Auto Cad and BIM
  • Experience in Building Professions
  • Appropriate work experience within the industry
  • Freedom to act to their own ability and on behalf of the Health Board

Essential skills and qualities include:

  • Ability to work under pressure
  • Excellent communicator
  • Available for out of hours working
  • Able to travel to all sites within ABUHB
