Principal Ecologist

Key Responsibilities:
  • Project Management: Lead and manage ecological assessments, habitat surveys, and impact studies for various projects, ensuring high-quality project delivery and fostering strong client relationships.
  • Field Work: Conduct and oversee field surveys, including protected species surveys, habitat assessments, and ecological monitoring, utilizing expert knowledge of UK wildlife legislation and planning regulations.
  • Writing Reports: Prepare detailed ecological reports, impact assessments, and mitigation strategies, utilizing excellent communication and interpersonal skills to provide expert advice and guidance to clients.
  • Client Liaison: Build and maintain relationships with clients, providing expert advice and guidance on ecological issues, and ensuring projects comply with relevant legislation, planning policies, and environmental standards.
  • Team Leadership: Mentor and support junior ecologists, fostering a collaborative and innovative team environment, and ensuring high-quality project delivery.
What We're Looking For:
  • Experience: Experience within an ecological consultancy or a related field, with a strong understanding of UK wildlife legislation, planning regulations, and best practices in ecological management.
  • Qualifications: Degree in Ecology, Environmental Science, or related discipline, with a master's degree or PhD being advantageous.
  • Skills: Proficient in ecological survey techniques, data analysis, and report writing, with excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
