Job Title: Senior Production Manager - Harness Workshop

Job Summary:

We are seeking an experienced Senior Production Manager to lead our Harness Workshop team. The successful candidate will be responsible for overseeing the daily operations of the workshop, ensuring efficient and timely production of harnesses. This role involves managing a team of technicians, coordinating with other departments within Operations, and maintaining high standards of quality and safety.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Supervision and Leadership: Lead, mentor, and supervise a team of harness technicians to ensure productivity and quality standards are met.
  • Conduct regular team meetings to communicate goals, expectations, and any changes in procedures.
  • Provide training and development opportunities for team members to enhance their skills and knowledge.
  • Assist Operations in forward production planning to meet key delivery dates.
  • Production Management: Manage the day-to-day production activities in the workshop to meet delivery deadlines.
  • Monitor production progress and resolve any issues that may cause delays.
  • Ensure that all production activities are carried out in accordance with company policies and procedures.
  • Quality Control: Implement and maintain quality control procedures to ensure that all harnesses meet the required specifications.
  • Conduct regular inspections and audits to identify and address any quality issues.
  • Work closely with the Quality Assurance team to continuously improve production processes.
  • Inventory and Resource Management:
    • Manage inventory levels to ensure that all necessary materials and components are available for production.
    • Distribute the BoM parts picked for Harness production to various technicians.
    • Assist Operations to coordinate with the procurement team to order supplies and manage stock.
    • Optimize resource utilization to minimize waste and reduce costs.
  • Health and Safety: Ensure a safe working environment for all team members by enforcing health and safety regulations.
  • Promote a culture of safety within the workshop.
  • Continuous Improvement: Identify opportunities for process improvements and implement changes to enhance efficiency and productivity.
  • Stay up to date with industry trends and best practices to ensure the workshop operates at optimal levels.
  • Lead or participate in continuous improvement projects.
  • Reporting and Documentation:
    • Maintain accurate records of production activities, inventory levels, and quality control measures.
    • Prepare regular reports for the Workshop manager on production status, quality issues, and other relevant metrics.
    • Ensure all documentation is completed and filed according to company policies.
  • People Management: Assist Operations to plan and approve technicians' holidays ensuring adequate coverage to meet production needs.
  • Assist in conducting return-to-work interviews and manage any necessary adjustments or support.
  • Assist in implementing and managing sickness absence procedures in line with company policy.

Requirements:

  • Proven experience in a supervisory role within a manufacturing or production environment, preferably in harness manufacturing.
  • Strong leadership and team management skills.
  • Excellent organizational and planning abilities.
  • Knowledge of system 25 build process, quality control standards and health and safety regulations.
  • Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
  • Effective communication and interpersonal skills.
