Position Overview
The Royal Devon and Exeter NHS Foundation Trust is seeking a dedicated professional to uphold the scientific service commitments of our laboratory, ensuring alignment with our organizational objectives and responsibilities.
Our laboratory specializes in both routine and advanced analyses for Haematology and Blood Transfusion, maintaining full UKAS accreditation.
Role Responsibilities
This position involves comprehensive clinical interpretive services across all laboratory areas. The Northern site, located in a picturesque region, serves a diverse population and offers a variety of specialist services throughout the UK and Europe.
The laboratory collaborates closely with the University of Exeter Medical School, facilitating a robust Research and Development analytical service that supports clinical trials and translates diagnostic research into practice. We are at the forefront of innovative research, particularly in diabetes and gastroenterology autoimmunity.
We are looking for a motivated individual to enhance our team of professionals in the Haematology and Transfusion departments. The laboratory is equipped with state-of-the-art technology, including Horiba Yumizens Full Blood Count analysers and Stago StarMax 2 Coagulation analysers, among others. Our Blood Sciences laboratories are accredited by UKAS under ISO and MHRA compliance, and we utilize advanced electronic systems for blood tracking and patient records.
Candidate Requirements
Applicants must be HCPC registered and possess substantial technical knowledge in Blood Transfusion and Haematology. A minimum of two years of experience in an NHS medical laboratory is required, along with an IBMS specialist portfolio or an equivalent UK recognized qualification.
The ideal candidate will have experience working collaboratively within a laboratory team, demonstrating excellent organizational skills, strong communication abilities, and proficiency in IT. Following appropriate training, participation in a 24/7 shift service will be necessary.
