Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Deputy Day Care Manager to join our team at East Riding of Yorkshire Council. As a Deputy Day Care Manager, you will play a key role in the management of our busy Day Nursery, providing high-quality childcare to children aged 2-5 years.

Key Responsibilities

  • Assist the Manager in the day-to-day running of the nursery, ensuring a safe and stimulating learning environment for children.
  • Support the development and implementation of policies and procedures to ensure the highest standards of childcare.
  • Work closely with the Manager to identify and address any child protection issues, ensuring compliance with nursery policies.
  • Provide guidance and support to other staff members, promoting good practice and leading by example.
  • Act as a key person to a small group of children, building effective relationships with parents and carers, and ensuring each child's needs are recognized and met.
  • Contribute to the development and implementation of observation, assessment, and planning within the EYFS framework.
  • Develop and maintain effective communication and listening skills, inspiring and empowering others to achieve their best.

Requirements

  • Hold a Level 3 Childcare qualification or equivalent.
  • Have experience of supporting parents and an understanding of, and commitment to, working with parents as first educators of their children.
  • Be able to work flexibly to meet the needs of parents and carers.
  • Have knowledge and experience of observation, assessment, and planning within the EYFS framework.
  • Have good communication and listening skills, and the ability to inspire and empower others.
