Job Title: Security Officer

Location: Gracechurch Shopping Centre

Shift Pattern: 4 on 2 off

Hours: 28 hours per week

Rate of Pay: £12 per hour

Reporting To: Security Supervisor

Job Overview

This critical role is the public face of the Security Team, requiring a can-do and professional attitude. The successful candidate will ensure exemplary standards of Security and Customer Service are always provided to the client and visitors to the site.

Key Responsibilities
  1. Interact with all visitors/tenants within the shopping centre, delivering first-class customer-focused service.
  2. Carry out regular patrols of the shopping centre as detailed in the site assignment instructions, being proactive and vigilant.
  3. Continuously look for opportunities to assist visitors at the shopping centre, proactively helping wherever possible.
  4. Safeguard all areas of the site to ensure a safe and non-threatening environment for all visitors/tenants.
  5. Manage incidents in accordance with site policies and procedures.
  6. Liaise with the site control room, proactively reacting to incidents and ensuring colleagues are fully briefed and supported.
  7. Report any unsecure areas of the site to the Control Room immediately and take action to resolve.
  8. Record/log all non-conformances and emergencies with the appropriate control room operatives.
  9. Deal efficiently and effectively with all emergencies, ensuring the Centre team is kept fully informed.
  10. Display an intelligent understanding of human behaviour, monitoring and surveillance of suspect individuals, logging, and reporting incidents in line with site/company policies.
  11. Maintain vigilance and manage unauthorised access by banned individuals.
  12. Ensure radio procedures are always adhered to.
  13. Record all events/incidents in the Security Officer notebook correctly and adhere to notebook policies.
  14. Undertake any other reasonable duties as required to meet the needs of the business.
  15. Be available to cover at least one additional shift per month if requested to cover absence/annual leave.
  16. Liaise closely with the Environmental Services team, delivering one service and highlighting opportunities for working as one team.
Requirements

The ideal candidate will be professional, pleasant, friendly, courteous, and helpful, always carrying out duties to the highest standard.

They will take ownership of all situations, ensuring tasks are completed or escalated when necessary.

They will stay motivated, aiming high and achieving, and respect all staff and visitors within the shopping centre.

Qualifications

The successful candidate must hold a current SIA front-line licence, with an SIA CCTV license being advantageous.
