Position Overview

Northumbrian Water is a leading provider of water and wastewater services across the North East and operates as Essex & Suffolk Water, delivering drinking water to customers in some of the most challenging environments in the UK. Our commitment to managing water resources effectively is paramount, especially in regions with low rainfall and high evaporation rates.

As a Water Resource Management Specialist, you will play a vital role within our proactive Water Resources Team, focusing on both immediate operational needs and long-term strategic planning for water resource management across our service areas.

Your responsibilities will include:

  • Coordinating the preparation and submission of regulatory data and reports.
  • Contributing to the development of regional water resource plans and our company's Water Resources Management Plans (WRMP).
  • Assisting in the compilation of annual reviews and performance reports related to water resources.
  • Gathering and analyzing weekly resource data to support short-term operational management.
  • Evaluating Target Headroom and Outage Allowance metrics, along with operational data, to inform supply-demand balance assessments.

Additionally, you will be tasked with:

  • Collecting and organizing demand and supply data, and preparing water resource zone supply-demand balance reports.
  • Supporting the ongoing review and enhancement of our Drought Plans and conducting annual health checks.

Candidate Profile

The ideal candidate will be self-driven, detail-oriented, and possess strong organizational skills, with a keen focus on data accuracy. You should be numerically adept, with experience in data collection, analysis, and presentation.

Effective communication skills are essential, as you will need to articulate complex data insights to both technical and non-technical stakeholders. Your methods must align with regulatory standards and best practices within the industry.

A degree in a scientific or numerical discipline is required, and familiarity with regulatory reporting and water resource planning principles will be advantageous. Collaboration and teamwork are key, as is a commitment to continuous improvement in data management processes.

A valid driving license is necessary for travel to various office locations for meetings.
