Swadlincote, Derbyshire, United Kingdom Derbyshire Community Health Services NHSFT Full time

Position Overview

Derbyshire Community Health Services NHS FT (DCHS) invites qualified professionals to consider a role within our innovative and supportive Musculoskeletal (MSK) team as a Senior Musculoskeletal Physiotherapy Specialist. DCHS is recognized as one of the leading providers of specialized community health services in the UK, having received an outstanding rating from the Care Quality Commission.

We have exciting opportunities available for dedicated individuals to work within our MSK Clinical Assessment and Triage Service. The successful candidate will take on a senior role, collaborating with fellow specialists across the region.

Our MSK services, including First Contact Practitioner (FCP) and physiotherapy, are designed to deliver integrated care that is both accessible and responsive to the needs of patients, general practitioners, and the broader healthcare system.

Utilizing both in-person and innovative virtual service delivery methods, this role ensures that patients receive care from the appropriate professionals at the right time. As part of a large and experienced MSK team, you will have access to peer support and supervision, enabling you to assess and manage a diverse range of musculoskeletal conditions throughout the MSK pathway.

We currently have two full-time positions available, with part-time hours also being considered.

Main Responsibilities

We are looking for a Senior Musculoskeletal Physiotherapy Specialist who is accredited through a master's program or portfolio route. Candidates must meet the standards outlined in the Multi-Professional Framework for Advanced Clinical Practice in England and the ARMA MSK Advanced Practice Standards. If not currently accredited, candidates should demonstrate a commitment to achieving this accreditation.

As a Senior Specialist, your responsibilities will include:

  • Managing patients with musculoskeletal conditions, including the ability to request investigations, interpret results, and collaborate with colleagues to facilitate timely referrals to relevant specialties such as Orthopaedics, Rheumatology, Neurosurgery, Physiotherapy, and Podiatry.
  • Working across various segments of the MSK pathway to fulfill service requirements, which includes conducting digital triage and participating in MSK CATS and FCP services.
  • Providing professional and clinical leadership, offering specialist advice to patients, senior physiotherapists, clinical specialists, general practitioners, and other healthcare professionals.
  • Educating and mentoring other physiotherapists and healthcare professionals.
  • Delivering assessments and treatments through both remote and face-to-face consultations.
  • Leading and participating in service improvement initiatives, audits, and research as appropriate.

About Us

Derbyshire Community Health Services has been recognized as an 'outstanding' trust by the Care Quality Commission, a testament to our commitment to high-quality patient care within an inclusive organization that values collaboration and compassion.

This is an exciting time to join one of the largest specialist community NHS providers in the country, which is also recognized as one of the best NHS employers by its staff and the CQC. The evolving landscape of the NHS is shifting towards care outside traditional hospital settings, and we are at the forefront of this transformation, integrating services within local communities to better meet the individual needs of our patients.

At DCHS, we offer:

  • Up to 33 days of annual leave plus Bank Holidays
  • Options to purchase additional leave
  • Flexible working arrangements
  • Relocation assistance (subject to qualifying criteria)
  • One of the best pension schemes in the UK
  • Free parking at all sites
  • A fair mileage and lease car scheme
  • Supported study leave
  • Staff health and wellbeing programs
  • Access to health service discounts
  • Annual flu vaccinations
  • MSK advanced practice continuing professional development program
  • Dedicated non-clinical time for professional development
