Senior Employee Relations Specialist

Venesky-Brown's client, a public sector organisation in Croydon, is currently seeking a highly skilled and experienced EMEA Head of Employee Relations to join their team on a 3-month contract. The successful candidate will be responsible for providing expert advice and support to employees and staff side representatives on HR policies and procedures, as well as employment law processes.
Key Responsibilities:- Establish Strong Working Relationships: Develop and maintain strong working relationships with managers in assigned directorate teams to support employee relations and management upskilling requirements.
- Provide Expert Advice: Provide expert and up-to-date knowledge to employees and staff side representatives on HR policies and procedures, employment law processes, and signposting and support.
- Manage Employee Relations Issues: Provide first point of contact HR advice and support to designated directorate/teams to encourage early resolution of employee relations issues, ensuring risks associated with such cases are effectively managed.
- Support Line Managers: Support line managers and formal hearing panels up to and including dismissal hearing panels.
- Develop Support Packages: Work closely with the Health & Wellbeing Team and Occupational Health to develop effective support packages for staff in difficulty or distress.
- Encourage Sickness Management: Encourage and support robust sickness management strategies with the Case Management Team to support staff's health and wellbeing and reduce the time they are off sick.
- Prepare Line Managers: Prepare line managers to attend formal hearings and present their management cases, supporting new managers at formal hearings as appropriate.
- Lead Consultation and Restructuring: Play a lead role in conjunction with HR Business Partners on consultation and restructuring processes, including advice regarding redundancy.
- Author and Update HR Policies: Participate in the authoring, updating, and revision of HR Policies, guidance, and document templates as requested.
- Centre of Excellence: Support the Trust in reaching the aspiration of becoming a Centre of Excellence in Employee Relations.
- Restorative Approach: Utilise existing national resources and tools to support the Head of Strategic Employee Relations to deliver a restorative approach to employee relations.
- Evaluate Effectiveness: Evaluate the effectiveness and impact of employee relations initiatives and interventions with regular engagement sessions for staff.
- Record and Report: Accurately record all ER related case work on the Trust's recording system and escalate complex ER issues to the Head of Strategic Employee Relations.
- Compile Reports: Compile reports for the Trust's senior management teams on HR/ER activity highlighting areas of concern.
- Collaborate with HR and OD Directorate: Work collaboratively with the HR and OD Directorate to ensure that the provision and monitoring of employee relations initiatives is suitable for enhancing staff support across the Trust.
- Disseminate Information: Support the dissemination of relevant information through various campaigns and manage the Employee Relations pages on the Trust Intranet.
- Organise Support: Organise ongoing support for managers and staff on employee relations or HR initiatives.
- Lifelong Learning: Demonstrate a commitment to lifelong learning through supervision, reflective practice, and the promotion of education in practice.
- Contribute to HR Directorate: Contribute to HR Directorate meetings and overall HR Directorate objectives.
- Comply with Health and Safety Regulations: Comply with the requirements of the Health and Safety Regulations and the Trust's Health and Safety policies.
- Collaborate with HR Networks: Work collaboratively with HR networks, local and national workforce leads, and organisations.
- Continued Professional Development: Evidence of continued professional development within an ER environment.
- Operational Employee Relations Services: Demonstrable experience of providing a wide range of operational employee relations services to staff at all levels.
- Design and Facilitate Training: Demonstrable experience of designing and facilitating management training/briefing sessions on HR policies and procedures.
- Senior HR/ER Level: Demonstrable knowledge of working at a senior HR/ER level within a complex unionised environment.
- Familiar with Electronic HR Reporting: Familiar with electronic HR reporting and recording systems.
