About the Role
We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Government Affairs Manager to join our team at Novelis. As a key member of our Europe Government Affairs team, you will play a critical role in influencing UK and EU legislation, regulation, and policy debates to secure benefits and minimize risks to our business.
Key Responsibilities
- Drive the implementation of Novelis' government affairs strategy with a focus on UK affairs, UK/EU relationships, and circularity/decarbonization.
- Create and cultivate a network with UK stakeholders, targeting public policy outcomes aligned with our corporate strategy.
- Support Novelis UK in external relations with industry and media, and provide communications support on policy issues and government affairs activities.
- Participate and represent Novelis' interests in relevant industry associations.
Requirements
- A higher education and advanced degree in public policy, political science, law, or related disciplines.
- A minimum of 6 years of experience in public policy, legislative affairs, lobbying, or applicable areas related to recycling/sustainability.
- A strong network of contacts in the UK, with demonstrated interest and working knowledge in policy issues such as circular economy, climate, and trade.
- Strategic mindset, strong relationship management capabilities, and demonstrated success in proactively building and working collaboratively with strategic alliances, coalitions, trade groups, etc.
- Extremely proactive, collaborative, organized, detail-oriented, with an ability to juggle multiple issues and activities simultaneously in a highly professional manner.
- Native English speaker; proficiency in German/French/Italian a plus; outstanding communications skills in writing and orally.
