Job Title: Cover Supervisor

We are seeking a reliable and enthusiastic Cover Supervisor to work in secondary schools across the Portsmouth area. As a Cover Supervisor, you will be responsible for delivering pre-planned lessons in the absence of a teacher, ensuring students remain on task and engaged in their learning.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Supervise and manage classes in the absence of the regular teacher, following pre-planned lessons and activities.
  • Maintain a calm and focused atmosphere in the classroom, addressing any behavioural issues in line with school policies.
  • Support students during lessons, helping them engage with the content and complete tasks.
  • Ensure a safe and inclusive learning environment, keeping students on task and meeting lesson objectives.
  • Collaborate with teaching staff and school leadership, providing feedback on student behaviour and lesson outcomes.
  • Be flexible and prepared to cover a range of subjects across different year groups.
Requirements:
  • Strong classroom management skills and confidence working with secondary school students.
  • Excellent communication and organisational skills.
  • Adaptability and the ability to work across different subjects and year groups.
  • A proactive approach to ensuring a productive learning environment.
  • Previous experience in a similar role or in working with young people is desirable, but not essential.

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
