About the Role

AtkinsRéalis is seeking a highly skilled Structural Engineer to join our Birmingham Building Structures team. As a key member of our team, you will play a crucial role in delivering our ambitious plans to develop and grow the Building Design practice in the midlands and across the UK.

About the Team

Our Building Design practice provides multidisciplinary engineering services and integrated solutions across a wide range of projects relating to buildings and infrastructure. We are a leading player in some of the world's most challenging and exciting engineering projects across sectors including: Education, Commercial, Residential, Defence, Energy, and Transportation.

About You

  • You will have a degree in Structural or Civil Engineering.
  • You will be a Graduate Member of a relevant body (IStructE or ICE).
  • You will be working towards or have achieved Chartered Membership (IStructE or ICE).
  • You will have proven experience in the design of structures using conventional engineering materials (steel, concrete, timber, masonry) to Eurocodes.
  • You will have experience in the use of structural analysis design software (Robot Structural Analysis and Revit experience is desirable but not essential).
  • You will be willing to learn new software.
  • You will be open to new technologies including digital engineering, automation, and parametric design.
  • You will have strong communication and presentation skills to support our client relationships.
  • You will be flexible and willing to take on new challenges and responsibilities.
  • You will be able to make decisions, act on your own initiative, and operate in a proactive way.
  • You will be a curious and motivated individual who enjoys exchanging ideas with others.
  • You will be willing to travel and work within other offices for periods of time.

About the Responsibilities

  • You will use your technical skills and knowledge to design and develop building structures.
  • You will develop conceptual solutions to problems through to detailed design.
  • You will contribute to the development of the multi-disciplined project team's approach.
  • You will assist in the execution of projects within defined design and cost parameters.
  • You will undertake research, data collection, and presentation of information.
  • You will present results to clients under the supervision of an AtkinsRéalis lead designer.
  • You will comply with Quality and Technical Assurance Procedures.
  • You will be aware of and work in compliance with BIM standards, Digital Plan of Work, and the project BIM Execution plan.
  • You will have experience with parametric modelling software and software coding (Dynamo, Python, C++ etc.) is desirable and may be a development target.
  • You will represent AtkinsRéalis on site visits and at design team meetings.
  • You will assist/mentor the development of apprentice and less experienced staff.
  • You will be proactive in self-development.
  • You will help maintain a broad range of skills within the team to ensure full support is provided to the design staff.
