Unix Engineer (SC Cleared) - Competitive Daily Rate - Contract Opportunity
We are looking for a proficient and qualified Unix Engineer (SC or DV Security Cleared) to maintain the efficient functioning of our Unix and Linux server environments. This position entails supporting both production and development settings, overseeing disaster recovery solutions, and offering assistance to developers, operators, and users within the Virtual Unix Team (VUT).
Key Responsibilities:
- Maintain the security of servers and services managed by the VUT.
- Install software packages, perform upgrades, and apply patches to supported systems.
- Manage backup procedures for system and user data, and oversee file storage allocation and usage.
- Conduct routine system administration tasks across various Unix servers and respond to help desk inquiries.
- Create and maintain Shell Scripts on Unix/Linux platforms and review Quality Management System (QMS) procedures and work instructions.
- Perform daily system checks to ensure Unix/Linux systems are operational and report any software or hardware issues.
- Ensure compliance with SSCL/DBS mandatory processes and provide technical support to all users.
- Server Builds: Construct servers within Oracle Cloud Infrastructure (OCI).
Essential Skills:
- SC Cleared with willingness to pursue DV clearance.
- Proficient understanding of Linux operating systems and AIX.
- Familiarity with IBM or Lenovo hardware, virtualization technologies, and Oracle Exadata.
- Knowledge of IBM storage solutions and management tools.
- Experience with Oracle KVM.
- Familiarity with Data Protector or similar enterprise backup solutions.
- Understanding of Oracle Cloud Infrastructure (OCI).
- Experience with Solarwinds and ServiceNow.
