Position Overview
We are seeking an enthusiastic and visionary nursing leader to become a pivotal member of our senior management team as a Lead Nurse. In this role, you will collaborate with fellow nursing leaders, allied health professionals, and the senior management team to empower our ward teams in delivering exceptional patient care.
Oxford Health Community Rehabilitation Service encompasses eight inpatient wards distributed across six community hospital locations. Our service provides a variety of rehabilitation options, including specialized post-stroke care, support for larger patients, end-of-life care, sub-acute medical care, and community admissions through ambulatory care units.
The ideal candidate will have a comprehensive understanding of the clinical environment and will be responsible for specific wards while also overseeing the entire service. We are looking for a leader who is ambitious, innovative, and dedicated, possessing strong clinical expertise.
The Lead Nurse, with the backing of the senior management team, will take charge of quality and safety governance, ensure adequate staffing levels, manage operational effectiveness, and spearhead quality enhancement initiatives within the service. This role is crucial in collaborating with our system partners to establish seamless care pathways throughout the patient's journey, available seven days a week.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide visible and approachable clinical leadership to staff delivering care within Oxfordshire Community Hospital services, setting a standard for high-quality clinical practice.
- Champion improvements in patient experience and safety within community hospital services, responding effectively to patient feedback and concerns regarding clinical standards.
- Collaborate with other nursing leaders and allied health professionals to foster a culture of continuous learning and improvement across all inpatient settings.
- Offer clinical guidance and direction to staff in maintaining both clinical and non-clinical care standards while implementing service enhancements, ensuring compliance with Care Quality Commission (CQC) standards and other regulatory requirements.
- Engage proactively with clinical and operational managers to promote a culture of high performance regarding referral pathways and discharge processes.
- Work with stakeholders to ensure that Community Hospital Services are fully aligned with the needs of the local population.
- Act as a deputy for the Senior Nurse and Head of Service at key strategic meetings as necessary.
