Position Overview

Willmott Dixon is seeking a skilled Cost Estimation Specialist to join our North East construction division. This role will be based in our Gateshead office, where we manage projects valued between £10m and £70m across various sectors, including Education, Leisure, Health, Blue Light, and Commercial. The position offers a hybrid working arrangement, combining both remote and office-based responsibilities.

The Cost Estimation Specialist will be responsible for executing estimating tasks on projects during the tendering and negotiation phases. With a robust pipeline of tenders, we require additional expertise as our projects increasingly rely on estimator-led negotiations. This role also presents an excellent opportunity for mentorship from a seasoned senior estimating team, allowing for skill enhancement through practical experience.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead the financial aspects of two-stage and negotiated tenders, from initial cost planning to financial closure.
  • Guide design teams towards cost-effective solutions.
  • Collaborate with our supply chain to ensure that costs are accurate and that solutions are feasible for construction.
  • Provide ongoing cost updates to the client's surveying team and finalize negotiations before contract execution.

Essential Qualifications:

  • Proven experience with diverse construction methodologies.
  • Demonstrated ability to manage costs, timelines, and quality in alignment with project objectives.
  • Proficient in interpreting drawings and technical specifications accurately.
  • Strong mathematical skills.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Relevant academic degree.
  • Familiarity with Conquest Estimating System or similar tools.
