Job Summary:

This is an exciting opportunity for a highly skilled Mechanical Design Engineer to join our team at Yoh, A Day & Zimmermann Company. As a Mechanical Design Engineer, you will play a key role in leading projects and developing innovative new products for our non-lethal training ammunition company.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Design Leadership: Take a leading role in the conceptualization, design, and development of new products, ensuring they meet the highest standards of quality and performance.
  • Project Management: Oversee project timelines and resources, ensuring timely and successful project completion, and maintaining effective communication with cross-functional teams.
  • Documentation and Technical Writing: Maintain and update project documents, including detailed drawings, spare parts lists, and technical specifications, ensuring accuracy and clarity.
  • Tooling Development: Design and develop tooling using workshop-based machinery, ensuring high precision and quality, and implementing efficient manufacturing processes.
  • Product Testing and Validation: Develop and implement robust methods for testing product performance and reliability, and conduct thorough data analysis and evaluation to enhance design performance.

Requirements:

  • 3D CAD Proficiency: Strong experience with 3D CAD software, particularly SOLIDWORKS, for designing and modeling, and a solid understanding of engineering principles and practices.
  • Educational Background: A university degree in Mechanical Engineering or Product Design, or equivalent practical experience in a similar role, with a strong foundation in mathematics and science.
  • Software Knowledge: Competence in using Microsoft Office programs (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) and Adobe Creative Suite for various design and documentation tasks, and a willingness to learn new software and technologies.
  • Problem-Solving Skills: Demonstrated ability to solve complex engineering problems and think creatively in the design process, with a strong attention to detail and a commitment to quality.
  • Team Collaboration: Strong team player with excellent communication skills to work effectively with cross-functional teams, and a willingness to contribute to a collaborative and dynamic work environment.
