About the Role

Carmichael UK is seeking a skilled Site Engineer to join our team on the Devonport Docks project in Plymouth. As a Site Engineer, you will play a crucial role in ensuring the successful delivery of this project.

Key Responsibilities
  • Assist in the preparation of 'as-built drawings' to ensure accurate documentation of site progress.
  • Establish effective systems to record work completed and update the Project Quality Plan accordingly.
  • Participate in developing quality check sheets and carrying out quality checks and surveys to ensure compliance with project standards.
  • Assist with site safety, environmental, and quality inspections to identify and mitigate potential risks.
  • Manage systems to enable the progress of work to be reviewed against time, quality, dimensions, and quantity.
  • Record and test workmanship and materials, including drainage, concrete, piling, and brickwork.
  • Provide engineering support to overcome technical problems and answer technical queries.
  • Set out works constructed within allowable tolerances from a provided site control.
  • Regularly check setting out points and benchmarks and ensure that all setting out instruments and measuring equipment are delivered to site with a calibration certificate and recorded accordingly.
  • Complete Daily Diaries and keep trackers up to date.
  • Assist in the procurement of site materials and equipment.
  • Ensure the workforce understands setting out information and identify suitable materials for the type of work being carried out.
  • Prepare sketches for distribution on site and ensure clear communication channels are in place for effective understanding.
  • Be aware of the provisions of the Safety, Health, and Environmental Management System and assist in its implementation to ensure a safe working environment.
  • Maintain a drawing register.
About You

We are looking for a highly skilled and experienced Site Engineer with a degree qualification in civil engineering or equivalent. You should have a strong understanding of CAD skills, setting out, and reinforced concrete structures using system formwork. Additionally, you should be familiar with Leica Survey equipment and have experience in writing RAMS. Proven people and project management skills are essential, as well as the ability to work effectively in a team and lead by example.
