Job Description

Job Title: Senior Mechanical Engineer (Building Services)

Job Summary: We are seeking a highly skilled Senior Mechanical Engineer (Building Services) to join our team at Millbank Holdings Ltd. As a Senior Mechanical Engineer (Building Services), you will be responsible for supporting a team in providing design and technical authority responsibilities to clients.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Support a team in providing design and technical authority responsibilities to clients
  • Develop and maintain design intent of mechanical services systems
  • Ensure compliance with site licence conditions, statutory legislation, and design codes/standards
  • Produce design guidance, substantiation, and analyses
  • Deliver against agreed budgets and timescales
  • Support the Mechanical & Nuclear Process Manager and Principal Engineer Mechanical Systems
  • Lead and work within a team of engineers, planning and organising tasks and facilitating progress
  • Perform and check design analyses and associated activities
  • Liaise with the CAD team to prepare models and drawings
  • Represent Mechanical Services Technical Authority
  • Conduct site surveys, inspections, and monitor site works
  • Represent the client at meetings with stakeholders and contractors

Requirements:

  • Preferably degree qualified or equivalent qualification in Building Services Engineering/Mechanical Engineering or related subjects
  • Or at least NVQ Level 5 in an engineering discipline and preferably a registered professional status with an Institute
  • Experience of working in a design consultancy and/or experience of working within a contractor design environment
  • Good level of computer literacy in a range of digital tools
  • Understanding of mechanical engineering principles for the design, operation, and maintenance of steam and condensate, industrial gases, fresh water, demineralised water, HVAC, domestic water services, etc.
  • Detailed knowledge of appropriate regulations, legislation, and technical standards applicable to mechanical services system design
  • Knowledge of operating within nuclear or other high-hazard environments
  • Pro-active, ability to take charge of project deliverables, make decisions, and act on own initiative
  • Good communication skills, both oral and written, including report writing
  • Flexible approach to allow for reactive nature of work
