About the Role

The House of Commons is seeking a highly skilled and experienced professional to lead its Financial Accounting Team. As the Head of Financial Accounting and Reporting, you will play a critical role in ensuring the accuracy and integrity of the House's financial information.

Key Responsibilities
  • Lead the Financial Accounting Team in the preparation of financial statements, including the annual report and accounts, and ensure compliance with relevant legislation and accounting standards.
  • Develop and maintain collaborative relationships with key stakeholders, including Strategic Finance, Finance Business Partners, and External Audit, to ensure the delivery of organisational priorities.
  • Provide technical accounting advice and guidance to the team and other stakeholders, including on topics such as asset management, capital investment, revenue recognition, and taxation positions.
  • Manage and coach staff to ensure all professional training and development requirements are met, and promote excellence within the team.
  • Contribute to the professional leadership of the Finance function, working collaboratively with finance business partners to continuously improve the function and ensure that appropriate local controls are in place.
Requirements
  • A professional finance qualification (CCAB or equivalent) with up-to-date CPD.
  • Experience of preparing financial statements and analysing and interpreting an organisation's financial information to support strategic decision making.
  • Leadership and management skills, with the ability to motivate and develop a diverse finance team.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build and maintain key relationships with stakeholders.
  • A confident planner and organiser, with the ability to deliver through others and set realistic deadlines.
