Job SummaryThe successful candidate will be responsible for carrying out experimental research on Capripoxvirus biology, including the development and optimisation of novel tools for genetic engineering. You will work closely with our team to design, perform, and analyse experiments, and maintain high-quality records of experimental procedures and datasets.
Key Responsibilities- Design, perform, and analyse experiments to develop and optimise tools for genetic engineering of Capripoxviruses
- Maintain high-quality records of experimental procedures and datasets
- Report findings and progress at periodic individual and group meetings
- Work in a safe way and support all health, safety, and biosafety processes of the Institute
- Be actively involved in the scientific community at The Pirbright Institute by attending internal and external seminars, presenting, and discussing own work and ideas
We are looking for a highly motivated and experienced Research Scientist with a PhD or equivalent in virology, microbiology, immunology, or another relevant branch of biosciences. You will have excellent oral and written communication skills, including the ability to communicate effectively with the academic community. Experience in virological techniques, molecular and cellular biology, and high-containment laboratory facilities is essential.
