We are seeking a highly skilled Transformer Design Engineer to join our team at IONATE. As a key member of our engineering team, you will be responsible for designing and developing innovative transformer solutions that meet the needs of our customers.
Key Responsibilities- Design and develop new distribution transformer concepts, including electromagnetic, thermal, mechanical, and material design.
- Produce technical requirements and specifications based on customer requirements and design concepts.
- Simulate and model transformer designs to analyze parameters such as losses and faults.
- Produce CAD/CAE designs following a verification and validation process.
- Ensure that all designs respect safety, quality, and international standards.
- Create and maintain process documents, technical reports, product manuals, and white papers.
- Collaborate with our multi-disciplinary team to deliver projects on time.
- Degree in Electrical Engineering or equivalent.
- Several years of experience designing, testing, and manufacturing distribution transformers.
- Sound knowledge of single and three-phase oil-filled/dry-type distribution transformers.
- Experience with electrical and magnetic field, heat, and oversaturation analysis.
- Ability to use FEM/BEM numerical methods and design within engineering constraints.
- Sound knowledge of transformers and related standards: IEC, IEEE/ANSI, Ecodesign.
- Experience with design procedures, calculations, modeling, simulations, and material selection.
- Experience using MATLAB/ANSYS/MAGNET/SolidWorks or equivalent software to simulate and model transformer designs.
- Experience with installation and commissioning of distribution transformers.
- Ability to work to clear timescales and collaborate with a cross-functional team.
