Job Title: SEN Learning Support Assistant (Primary)

GSL Education is seeking a dedicated and enthusiastic SEN Learning Support Assistant (Primary) to join an inclusive primary school in Colchester. This is a rewarding opportunity to support children with special educational needs and help them thrive in a positive learning environment.

Responsibilities:
  • Provide one-to-one or small group support to children with special educational needs.
  • Work closely with the class teacher to implement personalised learning plans.
  • Help maintain a supportive and inclusive classroom environment.
  • Assist with the development of social and communication skills.
  • Monitor and track student progress, offering feedback to teachers and parents.
  • Support students with emotional and behavioural challenges.
Requirements:
  • Previous experience working with children with SEN, ideally in a primary school setting.
  • Experience with special educational needs (SEN) is highly desirable.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work as part of a team and follow instructions.
  • A positive, patient, and caring attitude towards children.
  • Have an updated CV (covering last ten years barring any unexplained gaps) and an enhanced DBS registered to the update service (or be willing to apply for one).

Please note that this role requires a strong knowledge and understanding of safeguarding and child protection, and successful applicants must satisfy all background safer recruitment checks, including an enhanced DBS on the update service.
