Role Overview

The Geotechnical Engineer plays a vital role within the team, leveraging their technical and professional expertise to provide optimal solutions for both project support and research and development initiatives.

Key Responsibilities

Deliver optimal solutions for project support and R&D initiatives.

  • Ensure high-quality outputs that comply with RP&IT and Group standards.
  • Consult with the Geotechnics Manager and Senior/Principal Geotechnical Engineer on complex projects.
  • Integrate Group experiences within the discipline.
  • Advocate for best practices and knowledge sharing across the TechnipFMC Group.
  • Stay informed about the latest advancements in the industry.

Project Support

  • Act as the primary liaison between project management teams and RP&IT.
  • Collaborate with project management teams to clarify the objectives of work requests, ensuring that the agreed scope is appropriate and that tasks are completed within the designated timeframe.

Research & Development

  • Effectively oversee ongoing R&D programs to ensure they are completed on schedule and within budget.

Ideal Candidate Profile:

Typical Background & Experience:
An ideal candidate for the Geotechnical Engineer position will possess a reputable degree in Civil Engineering. A postgraduate degree or PhD in geotechnical engineering is preferred but not mandatory.

  • Ability to interpret soil parameters from available geotechnical and geophysical data.
  • Provide recommendations for site investigations regarding the types and quantities of tests needed.
  • Conduct geotechnical risk assessments.
  • Design subsea structure foundations (gravity base, driven pile, and suction pile) in accordance with ISO, DNVGL, or API standards, focusing on foundation capacity and installation design.
  • Assess pipeline-soil interactions per DNVGL F114.
  • Evaluate trenching requirements.
  • Effectively engage with a diverse range of stakeholders.
  • Understand and fulfill customer needs, delivering on commitments within agreed timelines.
  • Consistently achieve results within defined timeframes, demonstrating a commitment to excellence.
  • Propose innovative approaches to improve processes and challenge established practices.
  • Exhibit awareness of the organization’s strengths, weaknesses, and competitive positioning while demonstrating global thinking and local action in developing and communicating objectives and strategies.
