Job Title: Distribution Centre Manager

Job Summary:

We are seeking an experienced Distribution Centre Manager to join our team at Hozelock. As a key member of our logistics team, you will be responsible for planning and managing the efficient storage and distribution of customer orders from receipt to delivery.

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Organise and monitor transport requirements in conjunction with the Transport Senior Team Leader to ensure timely and cost-effective delivery of customer orders.
  2. Challenge transport performance through KPI's to identify areas for improvement and implement changes to optimise efficiency.
  3. Plan and manage customer orders from receipt in the sales office to delivery at the customer's required site by evaluating customer needs and cost-effective transport options.
  4. Work closely with the DC stock controller to plan and manage day-to-day stock accuracy and ensure that stock levels are maintained within budgeted targets.
  5. Plan and monitor receipts from the Factory/Suppliers and ensure there is space to store product and optimise storage opportunities.
  6. Develop and implement a manning structure to ensure the DC operates efficiently and within budgeted efficiency targets.
  7. Monitor and manage daily/weekly output in line with budget/forecast to ensure that customer orders are delivered on time and to the required quality standards.
  8. Process and monitor DC costs in conjunction with the Company Accountant to ensure that costs are controlled and managed within budget.
  9. Monitor and troubleshoot WMS systems in conjunction with IT to ensure a continuous process and identify areas for improvement.
  10. Propose, implement, and monitor improved ways of working to drive efficiency and productivity within the DC.
  11. Attend cross-departmental management meetings and co-ordinate any issues to ensure effective communication and collaboration across the business.
  12. Coordinate with colleagues in other DC across the group to align on Intercompany optimisation and ensure that customer orders are delivered efficiently and effectively.
  13. Ensure the supply of resources such as pallets, packaging etc. is maintained to support the efficient operation of the DC.
  14. Follow up customer queries on delivery exceptions to ensure that customer satisfaction is maintained.
  15. Support Business Continuity projects to ensure that the DC is prepared for any disruptions or crises.
  16. Annually assess and refine FLT requirements to ensure that the DC is operating efficiently and effectively.
  17. In conjunction with Purchasing, ensure that all annual contracts are reviewed and renewed within the budgeted costs.
  18. Comply with Health and Safety responsibilities as defined in the company health and safety policy and ensure that these are adequately delegated in the absence of the job holder.
  19. Comply and enforce all Company policies and processes as defined in the company Handbook.

Person Specification:

  1. Knowledge of the Transport Industry, Export, 3PL, Customs Management.
  2. Good knowledge of Microsoft Office or equivalent.
  3. Good knowledge of WMS/SAP systems.
  4. Excellent People Management skills.
  5. Good Communicator.
  6. Strong Leader.
  7. Flexibility of working hours when required.
  8. Ability to work cross-functionally.
  9. Project Planning.
  10. Change Management.

Education and/or Experience:
10+ years' Warehouse/Transport Management experience.
Experience of working within an FMCG environment.
Logistics Diploma or equivalent level.
English and Maths GCSE level.
Transport Manager CPC qualification.
