Job Title: Distribution Centre Manager

Job Purpose:

To oversee the efficient planning and execution of storage and distribution operations, ensuring timely delivery of customer orders while minimizing costs and optimizing transport routes.

Duties & Responsibilities:

  1. Collaborate with the Transport Senior Team Leader to organize and monitor transport requirements.
  2. Utilize KPIs to challenge transport performance and drive improvements.
  3. Plan and manage customer orders from receipt to delivery, evaluating customer needs and cost-effective transport options.
  4. Work with the DC stock controller to maintain day-to-day stock accuracy.
  5. Coordinate receipts from the Factory/Suppliers, ensuring adequate storage space and optimizing storage opportunities.
  6. Develop and implement a manning structure to meet budgeted efficiency targets.
  7. Monitor and manage daily/weekly output in line with budget/forecast.
  8. Process and monitor DC costs in conjunction with the Company Accountant.
  9. Troubleshoot WMS systems with IT to ensure a seamless process.
  10. Propose, implement, and monitor improved ways of working.
  11. Attend cross-departmental management meetings and coordinate issues.
  12. Align with colleagues in other DCs to optimize intercompany operations.
  13. Ensure supply of resources such as pallets, packaging, etc.
  14. Follow up on customer queries regarding delivery exceptions.
  15. Support Business Continuity projects.
  16. Annually assess and refine FLT requirements.
  17. In conjunction with Purchasing, review and renew annual contracts within budgeted costs.
  18. Comply with Health and Safety responsibilities and ensure adequate delegation in the absence of the job holder.
  19. Enforce all Company policies and processes as defined in the company Handbook.

Person Profile:

  1. Knowledge of the Transport Industry, Export, 3PL, Customs Management.
  2. Good knowledge of Microsoft Office or equivalent.
  3. Good knowledge of WMS/SAP systems.
  4. Excellent People Management skills.
  5. Good Communicator.
  6. Strong Leader.
  7. Flexibility of working hours when required.
  8. Ability to work cross-functionally.
  9. Project Planning.
  10. Change Management.

Education and/or Experience:
10+ years' Warehouse/Transport Management experience.
Experience of working within an FMCG environment.
Logistics Diploma or equivalent level.
English and Maths GCSE level.
Transport Manager CPC qualification.
