Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Assistant Store Manager to join our team at Big Lots Stores Inc. As a key member of our store leadership, you will be responsible for overseeing the day-to-day operations of the store, including merchandising, inventory management, and customer service.

Key Responsibilities
  1. Merchandising and Inventory Management: Ensure that the store's merchandise is properly displayed and maintained, and that inventory levels are accurately tracked and managed.
  2. Team Leadership: Supervise and direct the activities of store associates, providing guidance and support to ensure that they are meeting their responsibilities and achieving their goals.
  3. Customer Service: Provide exceptional customer service, responding to customer inquiries and resolving any issues that may arise.
  4. Store Operations: Oversee the daily operations of the store, including opening and closing procedures, cash handling, and security.
  5. Financial Management: Manage the store's financial performance, including budgeting, forecasting, and expense control.
  6. Training and Development: Provide training and development opportunities to store associates, helping them to improve their skills and advance in their careers.
  7. Compliance and Risk Management: Ensure that the store is in compliance with all relevant laws and regulations, and that risk management practices are in place to protect the company and its assets.
Requirements
  1. Education: High school diploma or equivalent required; bachelor's degree in business or a related field preferred.
  2. Experience: Minimum three years of retail management experience required; experience in a similar role at Big Lots Stores Inc. preferred.
  3. Skills: Strong leadership and communication skills, with the ability to motivate and inspire a team; excellent customer service skills, with the ability to resolve customer complaints and issues; strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines.
  4. Availability: Availability to work a variable schedule of at least 40 to 45 hours per week, including nights, weekends, and holidays required.
