About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled Design Engineer to join our in-house Construction Engineering team at McGee Group. As a Design Engineer, you will play a vital role in conducting detailed design and checking of temporary works, providing technical support to assist with operational activities.

Key Responsibilities
  • Develop concept designs through working with the project team and client, and manage their detailed development.
  • Support the digital engineering team in the production of models and drawings to communicate the design intent.
  • Mitigate construction risks through design and communicate residual risks to the project team.
  • Support the preconstruction team in the development of concept tender designs.
  • Manage staged technical reviews of designs as part of the assurance process.
  • Work with the broader project teams to understand time frames, key risks, and technical constraints.
  • Represent McGee's position as a Specialist Engineering Contractor, proactively driving and developing sustainable solutions to our clients' problems.
About You
  • Excellent track record of performing a similar role within a well-respected consultancy or contractors in-house design team.
  • Proficient planning skills, including design programming and IRS.
  • Experience with the practical aspects of operational limitations of structures.
  • Knowledge of current CDM regulations and design codes essential.
  • Confident and clear communicator, able to engage individuals at all levels.
  • Structured and able to deliver performance and outcomes, driving professionalism in others.
