Position Overview

Haling Park Care Home is seeking to hire a Culinary Specialist. (Bank)

In this role, you will collaborate with the Head Chef to provide exceptional meals for our residents while ensuring the kitchen runs efficiently and effectively.

Contract Details

£13 per hour
Zero-hour contract
Onsite parking
PVG costs covered

Required Skills and Qualifications

- City & Guilds 706 1 & 2, or equivalent qualification (achieved or in progress)
- Ability to work as part of a team
- Basic Food Hygiene Certificate
- Strong communication skills
- Capability to work independently

Preferred Experience

- Background in food preparation for the relevant Service User group
- Experience in a care setting is beneficial but not essential

Key Responsibilities

- Prepare, cook, and serve a variety of hot and cold meals as needed
- Support junior kitchen staff with various tasks
- Conduct Basic Food Hygiene training for all care staff involved in food handling and delivery
- Continuously enhance professional knowledge and skills
- Maintain accurate records of food supplies and monitor freezer/fridge temperatures
- Ensure proper stock rotation
- Assist in ordering supplies and verifying deliveries
- Uphold statutory Health & Safety standards in kitchen and dining areas
- Ensure all crockery and kitchen equipment is cleaned and stored properly
