Key Responsibilities:

As an Engineering Manager at Howden, you will lead two agile teams. Your people-centric approach and agile coaching will be essential in fostering team growth and achieving high performance.

You will engage in regular agile sessions, collaborating closely with your teams to execute our roadmap while supporting each engineer (typically around 10 direct reports) in their development, resilience, and problem-solving. You will also facilitate access to training and encourage the adoption of best practices.

This role is ideal for technical leaders, with no direct coding required.

As part of our leadership team, reporting to the Head of Web Development, you will participate in and facilitate leadership and community practice sessions in specific disciplines, such as UI/UX or QA, promote cross-team collaboration, and support hiring needs across the organization.

Candidate Profile:
  • A solid understanding of the broader technological landscape.
  • Proven experience in people leadership and optimizing team performance.
  • A meticulous attention to detail with a user-first focus.
  • Knowledge of accessibility standards and needs.
  • Deep appreciation for Test-driven Development and collaborative programming.
  • Strong familiarity with Azure Cloud technologies.
  • Excellent communication skills with a proactive approach to feedback.
  • A bias towards action and experimentation, leading to data-driven decision-making.
  • Understanding of agile methodologies, particularly Scrum and Kanban.
  • Commitment to continuous delivery practices and iterative development (CI/CD).
  • Experience in implementing observability and monitoring capabilities.
  • Previous experience in people leadership and agile coaching.
