Simpson Judge Ltd is a prestigious firm with a strong presence across the UK, seeking a qualified professional specializing in Risk Management.

The successful candidate will be required to travel and access various offices within the designated area.


The primary responsibility of this role is to operate internally within the firm, focusing on Quality and Risk, providing comprehensive legal support across multiple departments. This includes managing client grievances, professional indemnity issues, data protection compliance, and anti-money laundering protocols.


Key Responsibilities:

  • Client Complaints: Addressing client grievances in line with the firm's established Complaint Procedure.

This will entail:
* Engaging with the complainant and internal staff members
* Investigating the complaint and formulating an appropriate response
* Maintaining accurate records of complaints

  • Occasionally, this may also involve liaising with the Legal Ombudsman for escalated complaints.
  • Professional Negligence Issues: Managing notifications regarding potential and actual professional negligence cases within the firm.

This will involve:

  • Investigating and clarifying the facts surrounding reported incidents.
  • Providing guidance and support on necessary actions to address these situations.
  • Advising on potential conflicts and pre-action protocols.
  • Keeping the firm's professional indemnity records up to date.
  • Data Protection: Offering advice and guidance on adherence to Data Protection regulations.
  • Advising on Data Protection Impact Assessments.
Collaborating with the firm's GDPR team regarding:

Anti-Money Laundering:
Serving as one of the firm's Deputy Money Laundering Reporting Officers.

This includes receiving and initially reviewing internal suspicious activity reports (SARs) and fulfilling the roles of MLRO and COLP.


  • Preparing for external audits, including those conducted by regulatory bodies.
  • Responding to inquiries related to AML systems from third parties.

Required Skills & Qualifications:

  • Qualified Solicitor authorized to practice in England and Wales.
  • Proven experience in advising on SRA conflict of interest matters.
  • Experience as an MLRO or COLP (or both).
  • Strong knowledge of UK GDPR regulations.
  • Ability to meet deadlines effectively.
  • Capacity to work independently as well as collaboratively within a team.
  • Proficient in building relationships at all organizational levels.
