CNC Machinist Job Description

Magellan Aerospace Limited is seeking a skilled CNC Machinist to join our team in Blackpool. As a CNC Machinist, you will be responsible for operating machining cells, setting and operating machine tools, and communicating efficiently with the supervisor, manager, and colleagues.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Operate machining cells, including working on aluminum and/or titanium metal parts on 2, 4, and 5 Axis machines.
  • Set and operate machine tools, ensuring accurate and efficient production.
  • Communicate effectively with the supervisor, manager, and colleagues to ensure smooth production and resolve any issues that may arise.
  • Carry out component change overs for own machines and colleagues if required.
  • De-burr components, including removal of sharp edges and cleaning of holes.
  • Route work as necessary to next operation as per work instructions or team leader direction.
  • Ability to resolve machining problems with minimum supervision.
  • Escalate unresolved problems to Shift Leader, Team Leader, or Manager as required.
  • Provide accurate handover information to next shift on current status and any issues arisen.
  • Ensure all job card documentation is filled in correctly before moving onto next operation.
  • Work in line with all company requirements, including following work-to list and set up sheets.
  • Housekeeping and maintenance of own working environment, including keeping area free of spills.
  • Work in a safe manner, complying with all risk assessments and procedures in line with company Health and Safety policy, reporting any Health and Safety incidents that occur.
  • Actively support and contribute to the continuous improvement programme and lean manufacturing.
  • Any other reasonable duties required by management in support of the business.
Requirements:
  • Good general education.
  • Time served recognised engineering Apprenticeship, minimum of City & Guilds/NVQ in Mechanical Engineering.
  • Minimum of 2-3 years of 3, 4, and 5 Axis machining experience.
  • Knowledge of Controls, Health and Safety, and Aerospace manufacturing experience.
