Job Description

Job Title: Deputy Chief Fire Officer

Job Summary:

We are seeking a highly experienced and innovative leader to join our team as Deputy Chief Fire Officer. As a key member of our senior leadership team, you will play a critical role in shaping the future of our fire service and driving excellence in everything we do.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead the day-to-day management of the fire service, ensuring the effective implementation of policies and performance management.
  • Develop and implement strategic plans to drive innovation, transformation, and modernization in a large organization.
  • Collaborate with the Chief Fire Officer to lead the service and make key decisions that impact the organization.
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with stakeholders, including local government, community groups, and other emergency services.
  • Ensure the service is operating within budget and meeting its financial obligations.
  • Develop and implement policies and procedures to ensure the service is operating safely and effectively.

Requirements:

  • Significant experience as a substantive Area/Brigade Manager leading significant change within a fire and rescue service.
  • A strong track record of innovation, transformation, and modernization in a large organization.
  • Excellent leadership and management skills, with the ability to inspire and motivate teams.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build and maintain relationships with stakeholders.
  • Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment and make decisions under pressure.
  • Knowledge of the financial and budgetary context in which a modern fire and rescue service operates.
