About the Role

We are seeking a highly organized and efficient Support Secretary to join our Trauma and Orthopaedics team. The successful candidate will provide comprehensive support services to the medical secretaries and clinical teams, including dealing with enquiries, correspondence, filing, and providing an efficient typing service.

Main Responsibilities

The successful candidate will be responsible for:

  • Typing clinics, letters, reports, and other patient-related documentation with high accuracy and efficiency.
  • Filing and maintaining computerized files, ensuring that all work leaving the department is of the highest quality.
  • Retrieving, logging, and returning case notes/medical records, ensuring they are processed in accordance with Trust policy.
  • Undertaking administrative and clerical duties as required.
  • Updating and maintaining a working knowledge of hospital systems to deal with enquiries efficiently.

Person Specification

The ideal candidate will have:

  • GCSE (or equivalent) English and Maths.
  • RSA II or equivalent in secretarial skills and typing.
  • Demonstrable working knowledge of Microsoft packages (Word, Excel, etc.).

Desirable Qualifications

The following qualifications are desirable:

  • Certificate in Medical Terminology.
  • Secretary qualification.
  • Willingness to actively seek personal development and training.

Experience

The successful candidate will have experience in maintaining computerized files and a working knowledge of security and confidential issues in relation to handling personal information.
