Job Description

**Job Title:** Senior Import Customs Clerk

**Job Summary:** We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Senior Import Customs Clerk to join our team at A&S Recruitment. The successful candidate will be responsible for managing import and export shipments, ensuring compliance with customs regulations, and providing exceptional customer service.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Manage import and export shipments, including registering shipments, framing and EDI Bills of Entries for various modes of transport (sea, air, road, rail).
  • Process and verify the accuracy of source documents, including Certificates of Origin.
  • Ensure compliance with customs regulations, handle customs stops, and submit relevant documents for final release.
  • Coordinate with clients, agents, vendors, and shippers to resolve issues and maintain process flows.
  • Enter and manage data accurately, correct errors, and maintain records.

Requirements:

  • Typically 4-5 years of experience in customs clearing and forwarding, with solid knowledge of shipping documents and procedures.
  • Strong mathematical and analytical skills, excellent communication abilities, and proficiency in relevant software (e.g., ASM Sequoia, CNS, Destin8).

Education and Attributes:

  • Certification in Customs Clearing & Forwarding; a Logistics Diploma is advantageous.
  • Attention to detail, ability to work independently and as part of a team, and staying updated with industry changes.

Benefits:

  • Up to £38,000 per annum, depending on experience, discretionary annual bonus.
  • 25 days per year plus bank holidays.
