Job Description

Role Summary: We are seeking a highly motivated and enthusiastic Science Graduate to join our dynamic Science department as a Graduate Teaching Assistant. This is an excellent opportunity for a Science graduate to gain valuable experience in a school environment and develop their skills in education.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Support the Science Department: Assist teachers in delivering high-quality lessons across Key Stage 3 and 4, ensuring a smooth and effective learning experience for students.
  • Lesson Preparation and Classroom Management: Collaborate with teachers to prepare engaging lessons, manage classrooms, and provide individualized support to students who require additional help.
  • Student Support and Engagement: Supervise and facilitate interactive science experiments and practical sessions, creating an inclusive and stimulating learning environment that fosters student engagement and motivation.
  • Assessment and Monitoring: Contribute to the assessment and monitoring of student progress, providing valuable insights to teachers and supporting the development of individualized learning plans.
  • Administrative Tasks: Undertake administrative duties related to the Science department, ensuring efficient and effective day-to-day operations.
Requirements:
  • Qualifications: A degree in a Science-related field (Biology, Chemistry, Physics, etc.).
  • Passion for Science: A genuine passion for science and a desire to share this with young people, inspiring the next generation of scientists.
  • Communication and Interpersonal Skills: Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work collaboratively as part of a team.
  • Organizational Skills: Strong organizational skills and attention to detail, ensuring the smooth operation of the Science department.
  • DBS: A DBS on the update service (or willingness to obtain one).
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Previous Experience: Previous experience working with children or young people in any capacity.
  • Proactive Approach: A proactive and enthusiastic approach to education, with a commitment to delivering high-quality learning experiences.
