Main Responsibilities:- Investigative Actions: Identify and plan own investigative actions to achieve investigatory objectives.
- Complex Crime Investigation: Assist with the investigation of serious and complex crime under the supervision, guidance, and mentoring of a PIP 2 investigator.
- Victim Support: Ensure support is in place for victims during an investigation, such as through the formulation of a victim strategy where required and working with the Victim Care Unit, or providing appropriate referral to support agencies, to ensure the safety and wellbeing of the victim.
- Information Gathering: Identify, gather, retain, and effectively utilize relevant material, including information and intelligence in support of investigations.
- Interviews and Reports: Identify and interview victims, witnesses, and suspects in accordance with PACE, ABE, Victim Code, F.P.P., and other relevant legislation. Prepare reports on the outcome of investigations, build and manage case files, and conduct disclosure within best practice procedures to ensure there is an accurate audit trail.
- Collaboration and Communication: Develop and maintain collaborative relationships with colleagues and partner agencies. Provide regular and effective service.
- Professional Qualifications: Successful completion of Professionalising Investigation Programme (PIP) level 1 accreditation or similar experience.
- Experience and Skills: Demonstrable experience of complex information gathering and problem-solving. A detailed understanding of the criminal justice system.
