Position Overview
We are pleased to announce a vacancy at our well-established and dynamic healthcare facility for a motivated Patient Services Coordinator to become a part of our supportive team, covering a fixed-term maternity leave.
Our practice utilizes SystmOne software. While prior experience in a GP reception role is advantageous, it is not a strict requirement.
Key Responsibilities
The primary duties of the successful candidate will include welcoming, assisting, and guiding patients in accessing the necessary services or healthcare professionals in a polite, efficient, and effective manner.
About Our Practice
Hatfield Health Centre is comprised of a dedicated team including 5 GP Partners, 1 Salaried GP, 1 Physician Associate, and 2 Pharmacists, along with support from:
- Practice Nurses
- Healthcare Assistants
- Management Team
- Administrative Staff including Secretaries and Receptionists.
Job Duties
The main responsibilities include:
- Delivering a high-quality reception service to patients and visitors.
- Providing guidance and navigation for patients seeking care.
- Handling incoming and outgoing telephone communications as necessary.
- Collaborating with other healthcare professionals, including district nurses and health visitors.
- Adhering to practice protocols in all interactions.
- Addressing general inquiries, clarifying procedures, and scheduling new and follow-up appointments.
- Informing new patients about practice arrangements and ensuring compliance with procedures.
- Accurately entering appointment requests, tasks, and general inquiries into clinical systems, ensuring all relevant details are recorded and referred to the appropriate medical staff when necessary.
- Ensuring the smooth operation of the appointment system and monitoring patient flow into treatment and consultation areas.
Candidate Profile
Required Experience
- Proficient IT skills and knowledge.
- Background in a patient-facing or customer service role.
- Strong listening, written, and interpersonal communication skills with colleagues, patients, and other healthcare professionals.
- A friendly, approachable demeanor with flexibility.
- Exceptional attention to detail.
Preferred Experience
- Experience in General Practice, NHS, Social Care, or a similar setting.
- Familiarity with SystmOne software.
- Ability to respond quickly and adapt to varying demands.
- Enjoys working in a fast-paced environment.

- GCSEs in English and Maths at grade A to C or equivalent.
