Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Paediatric Respiratory Consultant to join our team at Oxford University Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust. As a key member of our multidisciplinary team, you will provide comprehensive care to children with respiratory conditions, working closely with our specialist nurses, physiotherapists, and other healthcare professionals.

About the Role

This is a 12-month locum post for maternity cover, providing an excellent opportunity to work in a dynamic and committed team. You will be responsible for managing complex clinical problems, making decisions at consultant level, and contributing to the development of our paediatric respiratory service. Your duties will include providing clinical care, undertaking clinic work, and participating in on-call rotas.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide comprehensive paediatric respiratory care to children in the Thames Valley and Northamptonshire region.
  • Manage complex clinical problems, including respiratory sleep service, non-invasive respiratory support, and long-term ventilation.
  • Contribute to the development of our paediatric respiratory service, including clinical governance, audit, and research activities.
  • Participate in on-call rotas, providing telephone advice and attending to acute admissions and referrals.
Requirements
  • CCT in Paediatrics and Paediatric Respiratory Medicine or equivalent.
  • Current APLS certification.
  • Level 3 safeguarding training for children.
  • Higher Medical Degree or evidence of working towards a higher academic degree.
