About the Role

We are seeking an experienced Data and Information Officer to join our team at the University of Kent. As an Information Assurance Officer, you will play a key role in ensuring that our policies and procedures comply with UK GDPR, EU GDPR, the Data Protection Act 2018, Freedom of Information Act 2000, and Environmental Information Regulations 2004.

Key Responsibilities
  • Manage all requests for data under UK GDPR/DPA/FOIA/EIR, ensuring systems are in place for prompt and timely responses in line with legal requirements.
  • Maintain up-to-date knowledge of the codes of practice, guidance, and case law in respect of legislation overseen by the Information Commissioner's Office (ICO) to ensure compliance and best practice.
  • Have a detailed knowledge of how the University complies with its responsibilities under UK GDPR/DPA/FOIA/EIR to identify and mitigate information risks, including monitoring University-wide documentation.
  • Communicate effectively with a range of University staff, providing information, guidance, and training.
  • Implement the Records Management Policy to help the University improve its compliance with information legislation.
