About the Role

We are seeking an experienced and enthusiastic Principal Flood Modeller/Hydrologist to join our Hydrological Sciences team at Stantec. As a key member of our team, you will work collaboratively with colleagues and independently to deliver technical work, manage projects, and assist junior staff.

Key Responsibilities

  • Conduct Flood Risk Assessments and Flood Modelling (fluvial, pluvial and tidal) to support clients in the UK water industry, transport and energy infrastructure, minerals and waste, and property sectors.
  • Develop and manage projects, including outline Sustainable Drainage System (SuDS) design and/or detailed drainage design, hydraulic modelling (1D, 2D, and 1D-2D) of rivers, and Environmental Impact Assessments.
  • Collaborate with clients, local authorities, and other stakeholders to undertake site visits and provide technical expertise.
  • Work with Hydraulic Modelling software (e.g Flood Modeller Pro, ISIS – Tuflow, Estry – Tuflow, WinDes and Microdrainage) to deliver hydrological assessments and flow estimation or other flow calculation methods.
  • Develop and maintain relationships with clients and stakeholders to deliver high-quality projects and services.

About You

To be successful in this role, you will have a strong background in hydraulic modelling, hydrological assessments, and flow estimation. You will also have experience working with SuDS and surface/foul water drainage design, as well as hydrological EIA. A degree in Environmental Science and a relevant master's degree are essential, and chartered status with a relevant professional institution is highly desirable.
