About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled and motivated Nurse Specialist to join our team at University Hospitals Birmingham NHS Foundation Trust. As a Haematology Nurse, you will play a vital role in delivering high-quality patient care and contributing to the success of our Centre for Clinical Haematology.

Key Responsibilities
  • Manage and provide care for patients undergoing systemic anti-cancer therapies and supportive treatments
  • Assess patients for chemotherapy to ensure their physical condition and blood parameters are acceptable for treatment
  • Administer and dispose of intravenous chemotherapy in line with Trust and National guidance
  • Work closely with the Multi-Disciplinary Team (MDT) to provide comprehensive patient care
  • Undertake procedures related to Stem Cell Transplantation
Person Specification
  • Registered Adult Nurse on the NMC Register
  • Evidence and ability to revalidate as required by the NMC
  • Previous or recent experience working in an acute secondary NHS care setting
  • Evidence of achievements and career development in current post and ongoing professional development/competence
  • Experience of working on own and in a team in a healthcare environment, delegating to others and providing supervision
  • Understanding and knowledge of the NMC code of conduct
  • Understanding of preceptorship and work-based learning, and assimilation of skills and knowledge
  • Awareness of current relevant NHS policy context
  • Understanding/experience of the principles of safeguarding and Mental Capacity
  • Awareness of health and safety issues
Desirable Criteria
  • Previous haematology experience
  • Previous day unit experience
