About the Role:

National Health Service Scotland is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Senior Technical Consultant to join our team. As a key member of our Data and Analytics Service, you will play a critical role in supporting the strategic direction for better use of data to support service delivery and outcomes across Scotland.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead the architecture, design, development, and implementation of innovative data, business intelligence, and analytics solutions.
  • Make key design and engineering decisions and assess and manage the risk involved.
  • Provide expert advice and guidance to technical delivery teams.
  • Ensure quality of developments and smooth transition to business as usual.
  • Own design and development processes and standards.
  • Proactively contribute to technical strategy and service improvement.
  • Engage with stakeholders and users.
  • Assess, scope, and estimate demand.

Requirements:

  • Demonstrable experience of planning and leading the design, development, and implementation of innovative data, business intelligence, and analytics solutions.
  • Thorough knowledge and experience of data solutions architecture.
  • Thorough knowledge of building data products, including ETL/ELT.
  • Technical leadership experience, including strong and effective communication skills and stakeholder engagement and management skills.
  • Attention to detail.
  • Passion to make a difference.
  • Desire to excel within a high-performing team.
  • Appetite for lifelong learning and growth.
  • Ability to constructively challenge and to confidently lead the overall success of a service.
  • Interest in a wide range of topics with willingness to dive deeper into the detail when required.

Location and Working Pattern:

This post can be based in either Edinburgh or Glasgow.

Monday to Friday, 37 hours - hybrid working options available.

It is a condition of this employment that you must live and remain a resident within the UK for the post in which you will be employed with NHS National Services Scotland.
