About the Role

As a key member of our maintenance team at Network Rail, you will play a vital role in ensuring the safe and efficient operation of our rail network. Your primary responsibility will be to maintain, inspect, and repair the land alongside the track network, including vegetation management, drainage, and ancillary structures.

Key Responsibilities

  • Conduct regular inspections of the trackside environment to identify potential hazards and take corrective action as necessary.
  • Perform maintenance and repair tasks on a variety of equipment and infrastructure, including vegetation management, drainage, and fencing.
  • Work collaboratively with other team members to ensure that work is undertaken safely, efficiently, and to the relevant standards.
  • Act as a Team Leader when directed, providing guidance and support to junior team members.
  • Develop and maintain a thorough understanding of Network Rail's maintenance standards and procedures.

Requirements

  • Hold a valid driving license (category B) to operate Network Rail vehicles.
  • Be able to work outdoors in all weather conditions and remain calm under pressure.
  • Have excellent communication and teamwork skills, with the ability to deliver clear instructions to colleagues.
  • Be familiar with maintenance standards and procedures, with a strong understanding of construction management processes.
  • Hold an NVQ level 2 or 3 (or equivalent) in a relevant subject or have equivalent relevant experience.
